Of course this recipe does not have sugar in it – we use a sugar substitute!

Warning: Low-Carb Sugar and Spice Walnuts may induce the happy food dance. These tasty nuts make the perfect snack. We especially enjoy them during the holidays. The spices mirror the scents and flavors of the season.

Pack them in small glass jars with a pretty ribbon and they make the perfect gift!

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 3/4 cup Swerve sweetener
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon, ground
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg, ground
  • 1/4 teaspoon allspice, ground
  • 1/4 teaspoon cloves, ground
  • 1 egg white
  • 2 1/2 tablespoons water
  • 8 cups walnut pieces

Instructions

  1. Combine the first 8 ingredients in a bowl and stir well.
  2. Add the walnut pieces and stir until they are evenly coated.
  3. Spread the coated walnut pieces out on a lightly greased, foil-lined 15” x 10” x 1” jelly roll pan or large cookie sheet.
  4. Bake at 275° F for 50-55 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  5. Remove the walnut pieces from the pan and cool them on wax paper.
  6. Store in an airtight container.

Notes

VARIATIONS
To make this recipe Paleo, you can substitute either ¾ cup coconut sugar or 1½ tablespoon whole leaf stevia.
