Review: Green Mountain Gringo Salsa by Amy Dungan

Green Mountain Gringo Salsa

I’m a Mexican food fanatic. This is a bit unfortunate considering all the rice, beans, corn and flour products used in most Mexican recipes. Learning to adjust, I’ve gladly dug the good stuff out of taco salads, fajitas and chimichangas when dining out. Of course I prefer cooking my favorite dishes at home, where I always know exactly what I’m getting and I can make suitable substitutions when needed. One item I’ve always thought made these recipes perfect was salsa. I love a good salsa and I’ve always felt you can’t beat the home-made stuff. The fresh ingredients and spices bring out a taste that canned salsa’s can’t begin to compete with. At least that’s the way I used to think. Now I’m a believer that you can acquire the home-made taste of healthy fresh ingredients from a jar of Green Mountain Gringo Salsa.

I recently tried Green Mountain Gringo Salsa and issued a household decree that no other salsa shall grace our refrigerator shelves, unless it’s home-made of course. When you open the jar the wonderful aroma hits you and starts your mouth watering. Inside you’ll find chunks of delicious vegetables and spices mixed in with the sauce. And the taste is every bit as good as you’d expect. You’d think it was fresh from the garden. This is a hearty salsa that will really add that special punch to your meal.

While the taste is important, we can’t forget the ingredients. Green Mountain Gringo Salsa has an ingredient list I could frame and hang on my wall – I like it that much. There are no preservatives, allergens or genetically modified ingredients. It’s also gluten free and low in salt. If you’re concerned about fat content, then the fact that it’s fat free will appeal to you as well.

Check out this nutrition label for the mild, which is what I’m currently enjoying.

This is a case where I have no problem with a long ingredient list. It’s loaded with fresh, natural ingredients. It’s nice to see there are no lab-concocted items that you’ll find in many other commercial products.

Other flavors include Hot, Medium, Roasted Chile and Roasted Garlic. Green Mountain Gringo Salsa can be used with any plan and should be suitable for induction/beginning phases, assuming you don’t over do it.

This product gets a full five stars, which is my highest rating for products based on taste, ingredients, and nutritional information. Shoot, I might give it six because it far exceeds my expectations of a commercially made salsa. I think this may be the first time I’ve ever awarded a bonus star, so be sure and imagine it’s extra sparkly.

Disclosure: I was provided this product free of charge in order to review it. It in no way affected my opinion of the product.
