Nearly Naked Lamb Patties Low-Carb Gluten-Free Recipe

The Low-Carb Gluten-Free Nearly Naked Lamb Patties Recipe from CarbSmart.com requires 1 pound of ground lamb. It is recommended to not put the lamb on a baking rack as letting it bake in its own drippings keeps it moist and improves the flavor. I would rather have lightly seasoned lamb patties that highlight the lamb.

I’m almost embarrassed to call this a recipe. The truth is that lamb has a very unique flavor and adding a lot of ingredients to a lamb patty only muddies the flavors. I would rather have lightly seasoned lamb patties that highlights the lamb. You can add toppings to the burger which can enhance the flavor of the meat or you can simply serve more seasoned side dishes with it to compliment the flavor of the lamb. Personally, I prefer the later. Whichever you choose, these Low-Carb Gluten-Free Nearly Naked Lamb Patties are sure to please!

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • Zest of half a lemon
  • 1 teaspoon sea salt
  • Black pepper, to taste
  • 1 pound ground lamb

Instructions

  1. In a small bowl, combine lemon zest, salt, and pepper. Mix well and set aside.
  2. Form the ground lamb into 4 large patties and place the patties directly into a glass baking dish. Do not put the lamb on a baking rack. Letting it bake in it’s own drippings keeps it moist and vastly improves the flavor.
  3. Sprinkle the top of each patty with the spice mixture.
  4. Put the lamb in the oven, and bake, uncovered, for 25-30 minutes, or until the lamb is no longer pink in the center.

Notes

These patties freeze and reheat easily.

To freeze any leftovers, pop them into individual ZipLock bags when they’ve cooled and spoon a tablespoon of the drippings into each bag.

To reheat, just microwave the lamb patty on high for 2-3 minutes with the bag slightly open. The amount of time needed to reheat the patties will depend upon the power of your microwave.
