Make Someone Happy with Low-Carb Gifts by Amy Dungan

What Are the Best Low-Carb Gifts?

Christmas is drawing close and many people are still trying to figure out what to get that special someone who is hard to buy for. You know the one I’m talking about – those that either have everything (which is certainly not me!) or those who are particular in their likes and dislikes. And let’s just face the reality that low-carbers are picky. We have to be, at least where food is concerned. One of the great things about us is that we are passionate about our lifestyle and we aren’t afraid to share that passion and help others. So this Christmas, give some of that love back to the low-carber in your life. Below I’ve listed what I believe to be some of the best gifts a low-carber could ask for.

First, lets talk about food. I like a food gift just about as much as anyone, but the regular Christmas fare just isn’t acceptable. Sure I’d love a chocolate orange, but I can’t eat them, so buying one for me would be a waste of money. What can you get that food loving friend of yours? Low-carb goodies of course!

If you want to stay away from the sugar-free sweets, how about some protein bars and powders for those busy folks who occasionally have to eat on the run? I know a good protein bar or shake has saved my hungry hide many times.

You could also lavish them with more “practical” items like vitamins or books to help them on their journey. Quality vitamins are important on any diet. And who wouldn’t want a great new cookbook or plan book to enrich their lifestyle? You would literally be giving them the gift of good health!

How About Low-Carb Gifts of Bacon?

Okay, so maybe you are looking for a gift a little less serious. Maybe something that’ll make the low-carber in your life laugh out loud or proclaim you King/Queen of The-Coolest-Gifts-Ever-Land. I think I have just the thing for you. Bacon. I don’t mean a pound of bacon, although that’s always awesome. I mean bacon-themed gifts! Below are a few of my favorites.

  • Bacon Scented Car Air Freshener
  • Bacon Lip Balm
  • Bacon Wallet
  • Breakfast Dental Floss – Coffee, Waffle & Bacon
  • Bacon Watch
  • Kevin Bacon Autographed Photo… Or not. (How’d that get in there?)

And then you can wrap your awesome gifts up in some Bacon Gift Wrap!

Is your low-carber not a fan of bacon? (Blashphemy!) Then how about a gift certificate to their favorite low-carb friendly restaurant or store? You could get them a massage to help them relax after the crazy holiday season. Or if you are looking for a more do-it-yourself kind of gift, offer to babysit for a busy mom who never gets time to take care of herself. Treat a stressed and frazzled dad to a ball game or activity of his choice. Offer to fix a low-carb meal for an over-scheduled family. Or even give out a home-made coupon to help with whatever may be needed most.

In the end it’s all about showing them you care – the price is irrelevant. In a world where low-carbers sadly still have to fight to get respect for their lifestyle, gestures that support them are not only encouraged, but may just be the one element that helps them carry on and make it through the crazy season with their sanity, and diet, intact.
