Review: Garlic Gold by Amy Dungan

If you are a garlic lover, then Garlic Gold is certainly for you. Garlic Gold’s line of products can be used on just about any dish. (Although I’d recommend leaving it off the sugar-free ice cream. If you like garlic enough for that, I’d also recommend therapy. I hear they do make garlic ice cream, so I assume someone must like it. *shudder*) I’m pleased to tell you about these three flavorful products that now fill my kitchen with sunshine.

The original Garlic Gold is a mixture of organic extra virgin olive oil and toasted organic garlic. That’s it, end of story. My regular readers know how I feel about simple, whole food ingredient lists. I go into food-induced euphoria. This product makes my toes tingle. Obviously, it has a great garlic taste with a slight crunch. I steamed some veggies and spooned a little Garlic Gold over them last night. It was a nice change of pace from my regular routine, although I’ll admit I needed a sugar-free mint afterwards. It’s also recommended for salads, fish, eggs, and other protein sources. I’d say it’s only limited by your imagination. (Remember: Garlic + Dessert = blech!)

They also have this great item called Garlic Gold Nuggets. These are tiny little nuggets of chopped and toasted garlic that are perfect for adding flavor and crunch to any dish. Again they have that wonderful minuscule ingredient list. The package recommends trying Garlic Gold Nuggets on sushi, salads, and a few carby items like pizza and potatoes. It also says they’re a healthy alternative to bacon bits. To that I respectfully say pthhhhh! Forget using an alternative. Use them both! Real bacon bits and Garlic Gold Nuggets are fantastic on a salad. I’m looking forward to trying it on other dishes in the near future. You can find them in three different flavors: Parmesan, Sea Salt and Italian Herb.

The last product is certainly not the least. Garlic Gold Meyer Lemon Vinaigrette is wonderful. And get this – it’s vinegar free for those that can’t tolerate vinegar. Because of this, I’d say, it’s not quite as tart as a regular vinaigrette, but it’s still good. As before, it has a short ingredient list with organic, natural ingredients. I’ve had this over salad and thought it was delicious. It has nice hint of lemon, but no too much. We love to marinate asparagus in salad dressing overnight, then grill it. I think Garlic Gold Meyer Lemon Vinaigrette would make a fantastic marinade for that and intend to try it next time hubby fires up the grill.

Keep in mind with all these products that there is a somewhat_strong garlic flavor – probably more so than I’ve tasted in any other product. So I will repeat that garlic lovers will want give these a try. If you don’t care so much for garlic, this may not be the product for you. (Sparkly creatures of the night need not apply.)

Garlic Gold products should be great in all phases of just about any plan as they are low in carbohydrates and calories. They are also all certified organic and I give them all 5 stars. Garlic Gold for the win!

Disclosure: I was provided this product free of charge in order to review it. It in no way affected my opinion of the product.
