Cathie From Florida’s Low Carb Success Story

Success Stories

Cathie from Florida is 5’ 5″ tall and 36 years old. Following the Atkins program, she has dropped from 220 pounds to just 128 pounds. Cathie is a mere 18 pounds shy of her goal weight. She has “ungrown” her old size 2X clothes and now wears 9/10’s. And she did all this in just nine months!

“I have struggled with my weight all of my life,” Cathie told me. “I was fat as a child. Whenever I would lose some of that fat, I always gained it ALL back.”

“Having children was a huge problem for me and my weight. I never got on the scale. I did not want to know how much I weighed!!”

“I started this low carbing to be healthy. I had tried Weight Watchers and lost 40 pounds, but when I went off the Weight Watchers plan I gained back all of the weight I’d lost. I tried Weight Watchers because I thought it was the healthy way to go… NOT! The good thing about Weight Watchers, for me, was eating sweets. Also, it is easy to shop for food for the program. They have their own frozen dinners. But the counting of points is stupid to me, I just can’t keep track. It didn’t work because it is just not normal to have to keep track of all of that.”

“I have been on Atkins for 9 months. I have known about it for years. I went on it about 10 years ago and lost 10 pounds in two weeks. But then I went to the mall and ate two orders of garlic bread and felt so ashamed that I went off the diet. I am SO addicted to carbohydrates that I cannot have them anymore – at all.”

“My self esteem was so bad I never thought I could lose weight or stick with any program. I was in an abusive relationship for 11 years, and he really messed up my head. I think that’s why I was so fat. I saw no way out. He liked me fat, thinking no other men would look at me. Then I bought a computer and started going online. I joined a group for abused women and realized that I did not have to put up with it. I wanted to leave him. I wanted to reinvent my self. I decided to lose the weight, and I have lost 92 pounds so far!! I kicked Mr. Abusive out of the house, and now I have a new relationship that is wonderful.”

“I have a lot of healthy self esteem now. Atkins has really changed my life! I get looks from men all the time! LIFE IS GOOD!!!!” Cathie laughed.

“This way of eating is really easy, and I will continue low carbing for the rest of my life. I eat really well, all my favorite foods. The first month was hard. I used to cry when I saw my kids eating those EVIL carbohydrates, but being healthy had become more important to me than a quick fix from carby foods.”

“Going to the grocery store is still hard for me, though. It sets off triggers and makes me want to cheat. But I have been a good girl and stayed on plan. Cheating is not worth it. For the very first time in my life, I have done something for ME and I am proud of myself!!! I know now that I can do anything that I set my mind to! “

“Everyone thinks that it is not NORMAL to not eat carbohydrates. I catch a lot of grief from a lot of people. I just ignore them. I own a maid service, and all of my clients are so happy for me. They have names for me like “The Incredible Shrinking Woman,” “Slim,” and “Skinny,” Cathie chuckled.

“It has been a long time since someone has called me SKINNY, but I think it’s great!”

“Some of my friends think that I am anorexic. I do think that I have problems some days. There have been a few times I have not eaten at all through the day because I simply was not hungry. Some days, even though I can feel my weight loss, I will lie to my boyfriend about eating, if I haven‘t. I am trying to get over that; I know that is not the way to do this properly. This way of eating works, and I know I WILL NOT GAIN BACK ALL THAT WEIGHT if I stay on a low carbohydrate plan!!!!!”

“The health benefits are great. I can MOVE now! I have tons of energy, and I can walk up a flight of stairs. I can wear jeans, I can tuck in my shirt, and I look GOOD in a bikini.”

In closing, I asked Cathie if she had an insight to share with our readers. “As far as cheating, DON’T DO IT; it’s just not worth it!” Cathie told me. “I have rarely cheated – only three times so far, and I felt just awful afterwards.”

“The most important point to remember is that you can do it, ” Cathie continued.”Drink lots of water and exercise regularly. Low carbing is really a great way of life!”
