Everything’s Bigger, Better & Low-Carb in Texas

"Everything's bigger and better in Texas." This old adage refers to the size of things in Texas when compared with the size of things everywhere else in the world. Well, the first part of this old adage surely held true for me! Since I was a rather small and scrawny child in my first few years of life, ending up at 300 pounds what quite a feat. My mother tells me stories about taking me for regular doctor visits and voicing her concerns about me being too skinny and so I must be sick. The family doctor named her "The Mother Hen."

In May of 1998 my wife Margaret and I wholeheartedly adopted the low carb way of life. My weight loss since then has been about 35 pounds. Margs has lost about 25 pounds. Not only have we lost the weight but in Margaret's case, at least, have maintained the weight loss. have stayed at the Being a type II diabetic, I find it more difficult to hold on to the losses. I do lapse occasionally and have to struggle to get back to the lower weight level that I have achieved through low carbing. We are both continuing to slowly edge towards our target weights.
